Police arrested two motorists on driving while intoxicated charges after beefing up patrols last weekend, department officials announced Wednesday.
Officers stopped 45 vehicles for various traffic violations during the roaming enforcement effort between 8 p.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. Sunday. Along with the two DWI arrests, authorities charged two people with possession of marijuana and another for an open container of alcohol.
Police handed out 50 summonses for other traffic violations, officials said. Six officers and an emergency communications technician teamed up for the overnight effort.
