City police are waiting on an autopsy report from the state medical examiner’s office, but say there so far are no signs the death of a woman found in a local hotel is suspicious.

Authorities recovered the body from a 100 block S. Bragg St. hotel room at about 10:30 p.m. Friday. Though the cause of death remains unknown, investigators suspect it is drug-related.

That could change depending on the autopsy results. Police expect the medical examiner’s office to conduct the review today. A toxicology report would reveal whether the death was drug-related, but likely will take several weeks to complete, officials said.

Though the next of kind have been notified of her death, authorities have not publicly identified the woman. Unless she is determined to be the victim of a crime, they will not do so, said Alexandria Police Department spokeswoman Crystal Nosal.
