To the editor:

Why, in your cartoon portraying Palestinians and Israelis as pawns of unseen powers (July 10), were the Palestinians dressed in the Turkish flag?

The flag of Palestine is a red triangle with black, white and green stripes. If the crescent and star were intended to represent the Palestinians as Muslims, this also is inaccurate as a minority of Palestinians are Christians.

If your cartoonist is as ill-informed about these matters as it appears, maybe he should confine himself to other topics.
