Everybody loves Chadwicks

Chadwicks on The Strand is the sort of special place where locals and tourists alike keep coming back because they appreciate the reliably good cuisine, friendly service and cozy atmosphere. In the more than 30 years since Chadwicks opened in Alexandria, it has become a regular part of the routine and rhythm of some families.

Every day, there is a special comfort on offer. On Mondays, many gravitate to the restaurant for half-price burgers all day long. The generously portioned Angus, turkey and veggie burgers seem to fly out of the kitchen. Mondays also feature beer can chicken. For the uninitiated, the chicken is dry rubbed and roasted while sitting on a can of Pabst Blue Ribbon. As it roasts, the skin gets crispy and golden, while the beer keeps the meat moist. And Chadwicks boasts its chicken enchiladas on Tuesdays.

On Wednesdays, diners homesick for Mom’s cooking seek out Chadwicks’ meatloaf. The traditional comfort food is just the thing to boost one’s spirits in the middle of the week.

The restaurant celebrates Thanksgiving every Thursday with its roasted turkey platter special. And the highlight of the day on Fridays is Chadwicks’ take on fish and chips. Lightly battered fish and wonderful fries will delight locals, Anglophiles and the British alike.

Saturday’s “chef’s mixed grill” and Sunday’s spaghetti and meatballs round out the weekly specials. Every day, the portions are large and the specials are attractively presented.

Come by any time to experience Chadwicks. You will not be disappointed with the fine fare at fair prices. As the new owner, a longtime Chadwicks employee, Trae Lamond says, “I can assure all our loyal regulars that despite an ownership change, things will stay the way they’ve always been at Chadwicks.”

Open Monday to Friday 11:30 to 2 a.m. and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Dinner is served Sunday through Thursday until midnight and on Fridays and Saturdays until 1 a.m. Call 703-836-4442 or go to www.chadwicksrestaurants. com for more information.
