The Alexandria Police Department is investigating the second homicide of 2015 in the city after a man was shot dead on Belle Pre Way on Wednesday night.

Officers responded to the area near the 800 block of North Henry Street and the Braddock Road Metro station at approximately 11:45 p.m. and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died of his injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

Police department spokeswoman Ashley Hildebrandt had no further details on the homicide Thursday morning. She said the victim’s identity is being withheld until his next of kin are notified.
