New home store to open in Alexandria this week

A new specialty store will open in Alexandria at 4607 Eisenhower Ave. this Thursday, according to a news release.

Floor & Decor, a retailer specializing in hard surface flooring, will open on Nov. 2. The retail store and design center will be the third location in Virginia for the Georgia-based retail franchise.

The store, which spans about 94,226 square feet, carries 1 million square feet of in-stock flooring and offers free design services. The store employs 40 individuals and is led by Jonathan Bickley, who acts as the store’s chief executive merchant.

“Floor & Decor is extremely proud and excited to open our Alexandria location, the third store in Virginia,” Bickley said in the release.

The store will host a kick-off event on Saturday after its Thursday grand opening. The “Super Saturday” event, starting at 10 a.m., will include interactive games like a giant jenga, plinko and Connect ‘Floor.’ Guests of all ages will be able to compete for prizes. Guests can meet Gary Clark and Washington Redskins cheerleaders from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition, from noon to 2 p.m., the Rockland BBQ Food Truck will be on site, offering free food for the first 200 guests.

The Saturday event also includes a $1 million dice roll. Beginning at noon, the first 200 shoppers who are 18 or older can roll a set of six customized dice, each with are marked with one letter to spell “floors.” Prizes include a $100 merchandise card for those who roll any four letters, a $1,000 merchandise card for those who roll any five letters and a $1,000,000 prize for anyone who rolls all six letters. The dice roll game will conclude whenever the winning combination is rolled or, if no one has won, at 2 p.m.
