A group of upper King Street businesses will hold a block party this Saturday.
The event, hosted by 24 businesses between Patrick and Payne streets, will span from the 1000 block to the 1200 block of King Street. The event will include a ribbon cutting at Meggrolls and Serafino, food samples and kid-friendly activities like face painting, balloon animals and visits from local police and fire trucks. The event is meant to draw awareness to new businesses in the area, according to a news release.
Other activities will include a visit from a beekeeper at Olio Tasting Room, a braiding bar at Salon deZen, food specials and tastings at neighborhood restaurants Meggrolls, Hank’s Oyster Bar and Bluprint Chocolatier and how-to demonstrations from Today’s Cargo and Bellcara.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The ribbon cutting ceremonies with Mayor Allison Silberberg and the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce will be held at 4 p.m. at Meggrolls and 4:30 p.m. at Serafina.
