Following the Scottish Walk Christmas parade on Saturday morning, the 18th annual Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade of Lights illuminated Old Town’s waterfront by night.

The parade spanned a mile and was led by Vigilant, Alexandria’s fireboat, and John Glenn, Washington, D.C.’s fireboat.

“State of Comfort,” which was manned by Captain Brian Johnson, was named “Best of Alexandria Show” this year. “State of Comfort” had a karaoke theme – “Have a carolOKE Christmas.”

Other top prizes included Captain Tim Fontana’s “Wisp,” which won “Best Sailboat” for its red, white and blue-themed presentation honoring the 125th anniversary of the Capital Yacht Club. FLOTUS, a canoe-and-paddleboard duo led by Kelsey Semrod, won the “Hardiest Soul” category and “Nalani,” led by Captain Daniel Ricks, won the inaugural “Best Spirit of Harmony” category.

The event is jointly presented by the City of Alexandria, Visit Alexandria, the Old Dominion Boat Club and the Potomac Riverboat Co.
