To the editor:

I wholeheartedly object to having a business that allows customers to pick a chicken and have it weighed and then slaughtered within the City of Alexandria. I can’t believe that in such modern times, when it is a well-known fact that killing animals for meat is destroying our planet, that our area is going backwards.

Other areas, such as New York, are celebrating the practice of Meatless Mondays in schools, and our area is considering a cruel slaughterhouse? Northern Virginia, and Alexandria in particular, is known to be a kinder, forward-thinking community. This is a terribly bad idea that will only hinder the image of our Alexandria.
