SmallCakes, an ice cream and cupcake chain, is opening a location at 1506 Mount Vernon Ave.

Founded by Jeff Martin, known for his appearances on Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars,” SmallCakes bakes and frosts 18 signature flavors every morning using fresh, seasonal ingredients, according to SmallCakes’ website. SmallCakes currently has locations in Arlington, Richmond and Williamsburg, in addition to shops in 28 other states.

Some of SmallCakes signature cupcake flavors include pink vanilla, wedding cake, lemon drop and hot fudge sundae. The ice creamery has its own signature flavors, including blue munster cookie, salted caramel crunch and chocoholic, ac- cording to the website.

No date has been announced for the opening.
