Ahead of Labor Day next Monday, the city has announced its adjusted schedule of services.
All local government offices will be closed during the holiday, including the Alexandria Health Department and Historic Alexandria, according to a news release. The city’s libraries, recreation and arts centers, including the Torpedo Factory, will also be closed on Labor Day.
Trash and recycling will not be collected on Monday and will instead by collected on Tuesday, Sept. 8, according to the release.
Some services will still be available: The Vola Lawson Animal Shelter will be open, by appointment only, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the holiday. The city’s outdoor pools will also be open on Monday, but residents must prearrange to visit through the city’s online ticketing and lottery systems.
DASH bus service will operate on a Sunday schedule for Labor Day, and the Alexandria Police Department will suspend parking enforcement at metered spaces, residential permit parking districts and other areas with posted parking limits.
