The City of Alexandria has launched a delivery program to assist residents in obtaining Narcan, a nasal spray that can save the lives of those experiencing an opioid overdose, according to an Oct. 2 news release.
The program comes in response to a concerning increase in opioid overdose deaths, potentially connected to “individual and collective stress related to the COVID-19 pandemic,” according to the release.
Residents can obtain a free delivery of Narcan by emailing their name and address to emily.bentley@ alexandriava.gov or by calling 703-746-4888 and setting up an appointment. For more information on other ways to obtain Narcan, which is available at pharmacies without a prescription, visit www.alexandriava.gov/Opioids.
