Alexandria City Public Schools’ Virtual PLUS+ helpline, a service that community members can call with questions related to virtual learning, will remain open through January 2021, ACPS announced on Tuesday.
Since launching in August, the program has assisted more than 12,500 callers, according to the release. Rotating teams of 10 ACPS staff members working remotely respond to calls from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The service is available in four languages – English, Spanish, Amharic and Arabic – and interpreters for additional languages can be patched in from third party service providers, according to the release.
Additional funding for the helpline will be provided in December by the Alexandria PTA Council, which is designating a portion of the money raised during its Giving Tuesday fundraiser to support the service.
