Neuroscientist Mark Shiffer joined the already busy race for Alexandria City Council in the June 8 Democratic primary.
Shiffer, the director of engineering at Redhorse Corporation, has a degree in math from Cornell University, a masters in neuroscience from California State University, Long Beach and a Ph.D in cognitive and neural symptoms from Boston University, according to his LinkedIn. He is also a local parent with two children in Alexandria City Public Schools.
Shiffer joins 11 other candidates in the June 8 Democratic primary: new candidates Sarah Bagley; Bill Campbell; Alyia Gaskins; James Lewis; Richard Kirk McPike; Patrick Moran; Bill Rossello; Kevin Harris and Meronne Teklu and incumbent Councilors Canek Aguirre, John Chapman and Amy Jackson
