The Alexandria Police Department honored resident Christopher Palacios with the Chief of Police Award on April 13, according to a news release.

Palacios was given the award for assisting police in the apprehension of a driver involved in a fatal pedestrian crash on Jan. 26, 2020.

According to the release, after witnessing the hit and run crash, Palacios and his wife followed the driver, got his attention and convinced him to return to the inter–section where the incident occurred.
