A 24-year-old bicyclist died in a crash on Telegraph Road on June 3, according to Fairfax County Police.

The accident occurred just after 11 a.m. when the bicyclist, identified as Fatima Del Carmen Alvarez, entered a crosswalk at the Franconia Road intersection and was struck by a 2020 GMC Savanna driving north, according to police.

Alvarez was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is active, but police said in a statement that speed and alcohol are not likely contributors to the crash.
