The City of Alexandria is now offering COVID-19 boosters to all vaccinated residents over the age of 18, according to a news release.
Booster shots are available through health care providers, pharmacies and the Alexandria Health Department.
This update follows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s approval of boosters for anyone who received their final dose of an mRNA vaccine, such as Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech, at least six months ago or their single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least two months ago.
Residents may choose whether to keep the same manufacturer as their first dose for their booster or use a “mix and match” approach, according to the release.
Appointments with providers can be found at vaccines.gov. AHD will be hosting vaccine clinics at schools and throughout the community.
