The Alexandria Library’s first Black Family Reunion was held on April 29. Black families were invited to bring documents and images to be scanned and added to the library’s special collection archives. The event featured games, food trucks and more. Rose Dawson, the library director for Alexandria, spearheaded the event as a way to bridge the gap in African American history in Alexandria. Hundreds of attendees visited the Kate Waller Barrett Branch at 717 Queen St. and submitted photographs and documents to the collection.
