The City of Alexandria issued a release announcing “support of International Overdose Awareness Day today. This annual campaign works to end overdose incidents, remember those who have died, and raise awareness that substance use disorders can be successfully treated.”

City Hall was illuminated in purple to represent overdose awareness on Tuesday night and will remain through Friday morning. Signs and displays show data about overdoses and their impact on the community.
