A 15-year-old male was injured Wednesday afternoon in a hit-and-run involving a Penske truck at the corner of Montgomery and North Patrick Streets according to an Alexandria Police Department press release. The teenager was injured and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. After the crash, the driver drove to the rear of the George Washington Middle School, nearly striking children. The school resource officer on duty drew his service weapon to protect the students, but the driver left the scene and no other injuries occurred. The school entered “secure the building status” and lasted for less than 10 minutes. The vehicle was then left unoccupied at the Eisenhower Connector.

No suspects are in custody at this time. APD is actively investigating and looking for the driver. They are also interviewing witnesses. Those with information or eyewitness accounts should call the non-emergency number 703-746-4444.
