On Friday, the Athenaeum will host C. Alexandria Bernard Thomas, an award-winning poet, orator and teacher. April is National Child Abuse Prevention as well as Sexual Assault Awareness month.
Thomas survived physical and sexual abuse as a child and has worked with trauma survivors serving students, former prisoners in reentry programs and other vulnerable populations in the region. They have recently released their fifth book of poetry. The event is free and open to the public, though spots are limited. For more information, visit eventcreate.com/e/reclamationrelease.
