The sixth-seeded Episcopal High School Girls volleyball team recorded their first victory in State Tournament history with a 25-22, 25-18, 21-25, 25-23 victory over the host and third-seeded Norfolk Collegiate Oaks to advance to the semifinals. It was a hard-fought match where the team used their experience gained from the difficult ISL tournament to turn the tables on their unsuspecting opponent.  As a team, the defense recorded 72 digs against the tough Norfolk offense.  Claire Channell, Katelyn Halldorson, and Mary Foran led the way with 18, 13 and 30 digs respectively.  The EHS offense was quarterbacked by setter Caroline Moncure with 27 assists; while Foran, Breanna Jones, Sarah Dillard, and Sara Shiels shared 30 offensive kills and six key blocks.

The team will travel to Lynchburg to take on the host and number two seed Liberty Christian Academy on Friday at 10 a.m.
