The Bishop Ireton Lady Cardinals won the Virginia Independent State (VIS)
Runners-ups Basketball Trophy.

Ireton concluded the regular WCAC season with an overall record of 12-16.

The eighth-seeded Cardinals gave top-seeded Good Counsel a run for their money in the WCAC quarter-finals before bowing out 52-39. Four days later (Feb. 27), Ireton was seeded fourth overall in the eight team tournament. Fourth-seeded Ireton turned back fifth-seeded St. Catherines of Richmond, 70-55, in the VIS quarter-finals to punch their ticket to the semi-finals.

Against visiting St. Catherines, the Cardinals were paced by senior Allie Cleaves (25 points) and junior Mary Kate Curry (19). In the semi-finals, the Cardinal and Gold upset top-seeded Norfolk Collegiate on March 2. Ireton got out of the starting blocks strong and notched an impressive 65-40 victory. The Cardinals led 41-18 at halftime and earned one of their landmark victories of the season.

In the Championship contest played March 3, Ireton met a familiar foe – the Paul VI Lady Panthers of Fairfax. The Panthers defeated the Cardinals 69-53 to earn the 06-07 title.

Paul V surged to a 40-26 lead at halftime and kept the Cardinals at bay. Over the games final 16 minutes, Paul VI outscored Ireton 29-27. The Cardinal and Gold was paced by: Curry (18), Cleaves (13) and Donahue (10).

Both senior Allie Cleaves and junior Rachel Martin made the All-Tournament Team for Bishop Ireton. Ireton will only graduate three players, Cleaves, Donahue and Danielle Axenfeld. The Cardinals concluded the season with an overall record of 14-18 (including WCAC wins against OConnell twice, St. Marys Ryken twice and Elizabeth Seton once). NOTE: Neither the Episcopal Lady Maroon nor the St. Stephens & St. Agnes Lady Saints qualified for this seasons VIS Tournament.
