A long-running poetry series, The Iota Poetry Series, was in need of a new home after its namesake venue, The Iota Club and Cafe, closed in Clarendon last month.

Now, the monthly event will move to Fireflies Restaurant in Del Ray, where it will debut Nov. 12, according to a news release.

The event has local roots, having been founded by Alexandria poet Miles David Moore. Since its inception, it has hosted 275 local, national and international poets and many more open mic readers.

The first event at Fireflies will spotlight poets Camisha Jones and Sarah Browning as featured readers and it will be followed, as always, by an open poetry mic.

The event will be held, from that point, on the second Sunday of every month at 6 p.m.
