At a Death Cafe people drink tea, eat cake and discuss death. Our aim is to increase awareness of death to help people make the most of their (finite) lives. This Death Cafe will be hosted by Amy Johnson, a hospice and palliative care social worker who specializes in grief and trauma counseling.

Please note: Death Cafes are not meant to act as support groups or grief counseling.

Hailing from the UK, The Black Feathers will be performing at Sevareid House, October 14th as one of the many stops on their 21-city US tour. The duo brings together beautiful songwriting with every element of Americana and Folk. As they embark on their US tour, The Black Feathers have already been met with success selling out their first performance at The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville as part of AmericanaFest 2018. They have also recently released the music video to their latest single, “The Ghosts Have Eaten Well”, further enchanting audiences with emotive lyricism. Don’t miss out on a great night!

Meigs Hodge explores delta and Chicago styles through the music of Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters and others, as well as contemporary standards and original compositions. Two local music icons, world percussionist Tom Teasley and Chinese dulcimer specialist Chao Tian join forces to showcase tunes from their recent collaboration, “Dong Xi.”

2016 DRUM! Magazine World Percussionist of the Year, Teasley continuously looks for innovative ways to create cross-cultural dialogue. He blends centuries-old percussion traditions with digital technology to create ancient and futuristic virtual ensembles.

A leading performer on the Chinese dulcimer, Chao Tian received her master’s degree in musical performance in 2010. Since then, she has toured throughout the world as leader of the Always Folk Ensemble, bringing her virtuosic talent on the dulcimer to people in more than 30 different countries.
