Come get into the spirit of the Chinese New Year by celebrating the Year of the Dog with the Fairfax Chinese Dance Troupe at First Friday: Chinese New Year Celebration, sponsored by the Office of the Arts on Feb. 2, 2018 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Durant Arts Center, located at 1605 Cameron St.
The evening will include the Fairfax Chinese Dance Troupe performing several traditional Chinese folk dances accompanied by Alice Guzheng Ensemble, Mr. Zhang on a traditional instrument called the hulusi and vocalist Mr. Lin. A Chinese Kungfu and a martial arts demonstration. The city’s mobile art lab leading an interactive art activity will round off the evening’s festivities. There will be definitely something for every member of your family. Plan to come in traditional Chinese outfits and experience China in Alexandria.
A meet-and-greet begins at 6 p.m. Light refreshments will be on hand, complements of the Office of the Arts. Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. No experience is necessary. Children under 5 years old are free. Children must be accompanied by one adult.
