
7th Annual National Opera Awards Competition
Please join “PARTNERS for the Arts,” a locally based 501 (c)(3), for our signature event, the “7th Annual National Opera Awards Competition.” This is a two day event beginning on Saturday, October 12th, at the Lyceum located in Old Town Alexandria. Day one features 19 semi-finalists from all over the United States that are known for their excellence in their craft, as well as their ability to command the stage and enchant audiences. The chosen finalists will then go on to day two, Sunday, October 13th and will be eligible for over $15,000 in prize money. Admission is free and with your presence you will be supporting these immensely talented emerging singers. We hope to see you there!

Judges (Semi-Finals):
Joe Banno, over a 30 year directing career, Mr. Banno has directed over 40 operas with a dozen companies. He is a 9 time Helen Hayes Award winner with 38 Nominations.
Richard Fazio, conductor of The Trinity Chamber Orchestra and former maestro of The Catholic University Orchestra
Timothy Nelson, director and conductor in both North America and Europe, and Artistic Director of the IN Series in Washington D.C.
Dr. Katerina Souvorova, vocal coach for the The Catholic University of America and Founder and General Artistic Director of Bel Cantanti Opera.
Judges (Finals):
Lyric Tenor John Aler, one of the most acclaimed tenors on the international stage , a 4 time Grammy Award-Winner, and Professor at George Mason University.
John Edward Niles, conductor and Program Director for The American
Wagner Project-Wagner Society of Washington DC and the Institute for Young Dramatic Voices.
Lyric Soprano Arianna Zukerman, an artist in demand internationally for concert and opera performances; senior Director and a faculty member at the Potomac Vocal Institute. Mrs. Zukerman regularly gives master classes around the world.
