Alexandria Choral Society Presents a World Premier by Dunphy and Azzam

Alexandria Choral Society closes out its 53rd season with an exceptional program, showcasing a world premiere and a diverse set of women composers from all over the world.

Led by Artistic Director, Brian Fontaine-Isaac, On the Other side of Change, features the world premiere of ‘You Birth the Seeds’ by composer Melissa Dunphy, with text from Alexandria Poet Laureate Zeina Azzam. ACS is proud to share the stage to present this special piece with the winner of 2022 Sing-Off Grant, the Langley High School Madrigal Singers.

The concert also features esteemed works by Laura Jekabsone in ‘Ilus Haal’, Eleanor Daley’s ‘Gloria in Excelsis Deo’, Fanny Hensel’s ‘Schone Fremde’, Faith Zimmer’s ‘Laus Trinitati’, Undine Smith Moore’s ‘We Shall Walk Through the Valley’ and Rosephanye Powell’s ‘To Sit and Dream’.
