Alexandria People’s Assembly
The Parent Leadership Training Institute of Alexandria is returning to Patrick Henry
Recreation Center on Saturday November 5, 2022 for the Alexandria People’s
Assembly. This event is hosted by our PLTI Alumni Racial Justice Fellows to
continue the civic advocacy, leadership and community building work from our
2019 Racial Equity Forum. Join your neighbors for a day of African-centered
advocacy & community building to make life better for all Alexandria children &
families.
As is PLTI tradition, the Alexandria People’s Assembly will include a concurrent
Children’s Assembly, and introduce a Youth Assembly for older children. Our
original CLTI facilitators Ms Suzette Adams and Mrs Kemba Cansler will lead our
Children’s Assembly. Mr Marcus Sankofa Nicks, a historian, researcher, and veteran
educator from Howard County MD Public Schools will lead our Youth Assembly.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Space is limited. We ask participants to be
with us for the full day.
Thanks to the generous support of the Horning Foundation, Black Women’s
Roundtable Virginia, and Meyer Foundation, free registration is open for the
Alexandria People’s Assembly to all community members who are willing and able
to actively participate for the entire day.
