Alexandria Veterans’ History Walk

Walk to sites in Alexandria associated with wars and veterans.

Who was the first Black man from Alexandria to die in WWI, and how did his fellow WWI veterans choose to honor him? Which woman, in between raising eight children, became one of the most successful fundraisers for the Continental Army? What was the intended mission of the USS Alexandria in WWII, and when did the ship visit her namesake city? Come find out on this free walk organized by the Alexandria Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee.

The route is about 1.2 miles, and will cover parts of Old Town. All are welcome, including families with strollers. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome too!
