Come Play With Us | Join The Band

Come join the Alexandria Citizens Band, one of the oldest community bands in America, as we prepare for a fantastic 107th season. We are recruiting volunteer members in all sections –- drum, tuba, baritone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, saxophone, flute, clarinet, oboe, and bassoon players.

Join us at some of our first rehearsals of the new season – from 8 to 10 pm on Friday, September 20, or 8 to 10 pm on Friday, September 27, at Del Ray United Methodist Church, 100 East Windsor Ave, Alexandria. No auditions, we are welcoming all who want to have fun, find new friends, and help us in our mission to build community through music.

Alexandria Citizens Band is the hometown band that makes music accessible to all though free concerts throughout the year in the neighborhood and via broadcasts on social media. We play music people love to hear, and band members love to play – Broadway, movies, jazz, pop, marches, patriotic, and classic band music. We have one of the largest music libraries of any community band in the country.

By day our musicians are teachers, students, small business owners, service members, lawyers, rocket scientists, housewives, retirees, construction workers, engineers, diplomats, and Uber drivers. We are under the baton of the very talented Alexandria-resident Mike Evans, who has created a music space for musicians to enjoy.

Our program is generously funded through a grant by the City of Alexandria, Office of the Arts’ Arts Grant Program. We also are grateful to Del Ray United Methodist Church for hosting us!
