Come Play With Us (Virtually)

Join the Alexandria Citizens Band, one of the oldest community bands in America, as we prepare for our 108th season! We’re recruiting volunteer members in all sections –- drum, tuba, baritone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, saxophone, flute, clarinet, oboe, and bassoon players. We can especially use more brass players!

WHEN: Starting at 8 pm, on Friday, October 23rd, you’ll have a meet and greet with our conductor, Mike Evans, and our Board Members. Then at 8:15 pm all band members will join in.

WHERE: From the comfort of your couch, via Zoom! Normally, we practice from 8 to 10 pm on Fridays, at Del Ray United Methodist Church in Alexandria, but until things return to normal we will play virtually or in very small groups.

THE AGENDA: You’ll hear how you can perform in our LET THE MUSIC PLAY series, kicking off on December 18th with Alexandria’s Holiday Sing Along. Our volunteer musicians will record themselves at home to be part of virtual ensembles; also, some very small socially-distanced ensembles will play holiday music at members’ homes. You’ll also hear about our entire season that will include Broadway and On the Big Screen concerts.

WILL I NEED TO AUDITION? No. We welcome all who want to have fun, find new friends, and play free concerts throughout the year. We hope to hear from people who dusted off their instruments and have been playing throughout the pandemic; adults who are taking music lessons; or high schoolers who want to practice with a band.

DO IN NEED TO REGISTER Yes. Sign up on eventbrite, and we will send you the zoom link the week of the Come Play With Us. Here is the link:https://comeplaywithusvirtually.eventbrite.com
