Developing High Performance Buildings…and Districts: What Can Alexandria Learn?
Alexandria, Virginia and governments around the world have adopted a goal of cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half in the next 9 years, in order to avoid catastrophic climate changes. Nearly 60% of Alexandria’s greenhouse gas emissions are associated with energy use in commercial and residential buildings, making this a critical sector for meeting our climate goals, and Alexandria will see the development of more than 15 million square feet of new construction in the coming five years.
On May 5, the Alexandria group Build Our Future will host a webinar discussing real-world examples of how energy planning at both the building and district level can achieve deep reductions in energy use and greenhouse gas emissions while still creating profitable development.
