DHL and City of Alexandria Partner to Give Away 50 Trees During Earth Day Celebration

DHL Express, the world’s leading provider of international express shipping services, is celebrating its commitment to sustainability with the City of Alexandria. On Sunday, April 24, the community is invited to a free, outdoor Earth Day-themed event at Ben Brenman Park.

The eco-conscious extravaganza will feature a variety of Green-themed activities, including:
• Take Home a Free Tree: DHL is giving away 50 trees to residents and visitors at the event.
• Get a Close-Up Look at an e-Cargo Cycle: DHL’s e-Cargo Cycles are used for deliveries across the U.S. Each one deployed enables DHL to take one conventional delivery van off the road, reducing road traffic, noise and pollution while still providing fast efficient deliveries for customers.

Local community residents and visitors in the area are welcome to stop by on Sunday to #GoGreen!

DHL has significantly invested in the D.C. area over the past two years with five mobile pop-up locations, which provide greater accessibility and more convenient ways for local customers to ship internationally. DHL is committed to sustainability, with one of the local pop-ups being boosted by a solar-powered system with backup batteries, which contributes to the company’s goals for zero-emissions logistics by 2050 and to plant one million trees each year until 2025.
