Dona Nobis Pacem: A Concert for Peace and Unity
The Meeting House Festival Choir and Orchestra will present a FREE concert on May 21 entitled Dona Nobis Pacem: A Concert for Peace and Unity. The program will include American composer Leonard Bernstein’s “Chichester Psalms”, sung in Hebrew, along with British composer Ralph Vaughan Williams’ anti-war masterwork “Dona Nobis Pacem”, featuring soloists Suzanne Karpov (soprano) and William Heim (baritone), and conducted by Dr. Steven Seigart. Also on the program will be excerpts from American composer Margaret Bonds’ “Credo”. The concert is free and open to the public, and will last approximately 90 minutes, including a short intermission. A free-will offering will be taken up to support the Massanetta Springs Refugee Resettlement Partnership Fund, which provides free housing and other resources for refugee families at Massanetta Springs in Harrisonburg, Virginia, in partnership with Church World Service.
