Garden Fairy Houses: Making at the Mansion Day!

On Saturday, October 24, your enchanted Halloween experience begins. Some say that within the beautiful forest and gardens of Woodlawn Estate in Alexandria, Virginia, the fairies are out playing at night (along with those ghosts everyone knows about!) As the magic of Halloween approaches, surely they come closer to sprinkle their dust at the Mansion? Get into the spirit and get over to Woodlawn: for the very first time, we will be hosting a (natural, foraged) teensie-house building activity within our beautiful grounds. This is part one of two new outdoor activities that we think will put some sparkle in your step this Fall.
Come and build with us and support this new fundraiser for us at the same time! Woodlawn is already collecting foraged building “supplies” like bark, leaves and more to provide you- lots of natural building materials culled from the grounds (and some glue – we mean fairy dust – to help keep it all together). Please come with lots of spirit and provide your imagination, those tiny house building skills and any personal touches that make each dwelling so very special.
Be a part of our enchanted event this season! We encourage you to make a fun-filled day! Bring a picnic with you, and remember that our historic houses offer tours that day.
To ensure that everyone can have a fun, safe time, we require each group to register for a time slot and a specific place on the property (we will determine the area where you can build). PLEASE arrive as close to your time slot as possible and be mindful throughout the day to abide by proper social distancing and mask requirements. Once you arrive, you are welcome to stay as long as you would like (until 3:00pm).
