Kirkin’ o’ the Tartan and Evening Prayer Service
St. Andrew & St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church is holding a Kirkin’ o’ the Tartan and Evening Prayer service on Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. Nov. 30 is St. Andrew’s Day. St. Andrew, one of Jesus’ 12 disciples, is the Patron Saint of Scotland. These ceremonies have both parochial and civil meaning, dating back to 18th century Alexandria.
The service will include a blessing of Scottish tartans, a bagpiper, Scottish fiddling (members of the Scottish Fiddling Society), and other Scottish music. It will be followed by a reception with Scottish foods and beverages. Wear your kilts and bring your tartans if you have them! The church is located at 402 E.
