SW!NG OUT
Mason Artist-in-Residence
A Joyce Theater Production
Directed by Caleb Teicher
The fire, fight, and sheer joy of swing dance inhabits the Center for the Arts in SW!NG OUT. Live music by Eyal Vilner’s Big Band accompanies the dancing and choreography created by the acclaimed Caleb Teicher with Lindy Hop champions Evita Arce, LaTasha Barnes, and Nathan Bugh. The dancers will also participate in community events and classes during their time as Mason Artists-in-Residence in the week surrounding the performance. Co-commissioned by the Center for the Arts, SW!NG OUT is a full-length multidisciplinary work showcasing the Lindy Hop, a swing dance style born in 1930s Harlem that has since exploded through to a vibrant, international community. The lively evening will conclude with a chance for everyone to join in and get swinging!
