The Longest Day Block Party

As June is Alzheimer’s Awareness month, several community organizations, including Tropical Smoothie Cafe, Woodbine Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, Alexandria Rehab, Cameron Station Orthodontics, the National Capital Area Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, and Elancé at West End luxury senior living, have partnered together to spread awareness and fundraise in a fun and engaging way.

The entire Cardinal Place street in downtown Alexandria will be shut down to bring the community together in festivities with live music from the Old Dominion band, catering from Taste of RUI, big-ticket raffle items, including D.C. United tickets, donated by several local companies, face painting, education booths, and so much more. There is no cost to attend, but all raffle money will go directly to the Alzheimer’s Association to continue the work to find a cure.

The “Longest Day” takes place on June 21 and is the longest day of light, also known as the summer solstice. The Alzheimer’s Association bands together thousands of participants from across the world to fundraise and inspire people to “outshine the darkness of Alzheimer’s.” To donate to the cause, you can follow this link:
