The Third Annual Athenaeum Civil War Lecture Series ​: Stories of Triumph and Loss by Andrea Tracey

Through images, letters, and diaries, the Executive Director of Carlyle House Andrea Tracey, explores the histories of the nurses, doctors, stewards, soldiers and Alexandria residents who found themselves at the Carlyle House property and the Mansion House Hotel in what was known as the Mansion House Hospital during the Civil War. Discover how both the Carlyle House and the Hotel buildings were utilized during this tumultuous time in Alexandria and the nation’s history.
