Are you caring for a family member or loved one with Alzheimer’s disease, another dementia or other medical problems? Is it a struggle at times? Do you feel isolated and alone? Join us for the largest dementia conference in the region for family and professional caregivers!
The City of Alexandria’s Department of Community and Human Services Division of Aging and Adult Services is once again cosponsoring the 38th Annual Caregivers Conference, “Navigating the Journey: Adjusting the Sails in Dementia Caregiving.” It will be held Nov. 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the Fairfax County Government Center located at 12000 Government Center Parkway.
Individuals caring for or working with persons with dementia are encouraged to attend. This annual conference recognizes that caregiving for someone with dementia involves the entire family – spouses, adult children, grandchildren, siblings, neighbors and friends.
The day will feature three amazing keynote speakers and two breakout sessions. This conference will provide valuable information on understanding dementia, ways to help yourself and your family member, practical tips and more. Conference attendees will be able to learn even more from the exhibitors who will be on hand.
Another takeaway for attendees is a complimentary copy of “The 36-Hour Day” by Nancy L. Mace and Dr. Peter V. Rabins, courtesy of Fairfax County Department of Family Services’ Fairfax Area Agency on Aging. Attendees will also meet other caregivers, have great food and even some fun!
The cost of the conference continues to be $35 and includes a continental breakfast, lunch, snacks, materials and a certificate of attendance. You can register online, choose your breakout session and learn details of the keynote speakers.
