Members of the National Symphony Orchestra, including principal second violinist Marissa Regni, performed two hour-long concerts of Halloween-themed Venetian music on Oct. 31 as part of Classical Movements’ “Sounds of Joy and Light” concert series.
The five performers, in addition to Regni, included NSO musicians Peiming Lin on violin, Derek Powell on violin, Lowei Lin on cello as well as guest violist Allyson Goodman.
They played selections – some spooky and some not – ranging from the “Autumn” concerto from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons to Puccini’s “Crisantemi.” Regni and Lin, dressed in Halloween attire as a bumblebee and warrior, respectively, turned in mesmerizing performances at the socially distanced outdoor concert held in the “Secret Garden” at the Rectory, Classical Movements’ headquarters at 711 Princess St.
