Amid allegations of exchanging pornography with school computers, Alexandria Country Day School headmaster Alexander Harvey resigned Sunday.
ACDS Board of Trustees asked for Harveys resignation after learning the headmasters computer was used for trafficking pornographic material, said David Ayres, board president, in an email sent to parents Monday.
Harveys alleged actions were in violation of school policy and police were contacted, Ayres said.
Alexandria Police Department spokesman Jody Donaldson confirmed authorities have launched an investigation into the report. An APD detective is working alongside school officials, though no criminal complaints have been filed, he said.
Authorities would not disclose the nature of the pornography.
Jim Girard is now acting head of school, according to Ayres. A spokesman for the school declined to comment further.
