With indoor operations still presenting health risks for businesses and the colder months approaching, the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership plans to distribute another round of Alexandria Back to Business grant funding.

Local restaurants, retail stores and fitness centers will be able to apply for $5,000 grants to adapt their outdoor operations to cold weather, according to a news release. Businesses will be able to spend the money on things like tents, propane or electric heaters, outdoor-ready furniture and lighting.

City Council approved the allocation of $500,000 in federal Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act funding to the program on Oct. 27.

Applications for the program opened on Monday and the All-Weather grants will be available on a first come, first served basis until the CARES funding has been depleted, according to the release.

AEDP announced on July 30 that the first round of ALX B2B grants had provided around $3.5 million in more general financial and operational relief to more than 300 local businesses.
