The Alexandria Drive-in has donated $20,700 to T.C. Williams High School students through the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria, according to a March 4 news release.
The funds were raised by members of the community who went to see films at the Alexandria Drive-in during 2020. The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria has raised money for college scholarships for local students with financial need in Alexandria City Public Schools since 1986, according to the release.
“I have never been more inspired with this community coming together as we did with the Alexandria Drive-in,” Kelly Grant, founder of the Alexandria Drive-in, said in a statement.
“Its impact will have a ripple effect on our community for years to come.”
The Alexandria Drive-in, which began last year during the pandemic, kicked off its 2021 season on March 5. Ticket revenue will benefit the SFA again in the upcoming year, according to the release. Scholarship recipients for the T.C. Williams class of 2021 have yet to be announced.
