Police say an unidentified man tried to sexually assault a city woman enjoying a stroll near the 5300 block of Holmes Run Parkway on Tuesday night.
At about 9:45 p.m., the victim, a 23-year-old Alexandria resident, was walking in a nearby park when the suspect confronted her. After striking up conversation, the man grabbed her, pulling her into a secluded, wooded area, city police said. The victim broke free and fled.
Authorities describe the suspect as a 220-pound black man between 5-feet-7 and 5-feet-9. He wore all black clothing at the time of the attack.
Investigators do not believe the attempted assault is connected an attack in the same area in mid-September.
No arrests have been made and police urge anyone with information to call the Alexandria Police Department’s criminal investigations section at 703-746-6711.
