Authorities released new details Tuesday about the brazen daylight robbery of a King Street jewelry shop in September, saying the thieves made off with three Rolex watches worth more than $37,000.

The heist began about 10 a.m. September 6, when two men walked into King’s Jewelry at 609 King Street, pulled hammers out from under their jackets and shattered two display cases. An employee heard the noise and chased the men from the shop, officials said, but not before they had snatched the valuables.

Police had not previously released a description of the goods stolen or their estimated value.

Officials again called on the public for help identifying and apprehending the two men. They are described as black men in their late teens between 5-foot-8 and 6-foot with medium builds. One wore jeans and a blue, hooded Helly Hansen jacket emblazoned with a HH logo the left chest. The other donned jeans and a black sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head.

The sweatshirt had what authorities believe is a depiction of an astronaut on the front and may be of the Billionaire Boys Club brand.

Police posted a video of the heist on YouTube and urge anyone with information to contact Detective Loren King at 703-746-6689.
