Alexandria expressed overwhelming support for Joe Biden, former vice president and Democratic presidential candidate, on Super Tuesday.

Biden swept through Virginia, ending the night with 53.32 percent of the vote, or 705,339 votes, in the state and 49.95 percent of the vote, totaling 20,782 votes, in Alexandria, according to the Virginia Department of Elections. He also received the majority of absentee votes, 21.04 percent, or 667 votes.

In Alexandria, the former vice president received more votes than the other three Democratic candidates combined. Elizabeth Warren received 18.33 percent – 7,628 votes – Bernie Sanders, who came into Super Tuesday with a lot of momentum, received 18.23 percent – 7,586 votes – and Michael Bloomberg received 10.2 percent – 4,243 votes. The rest of the votes in Alexandria were split between candidates who were no longer running.

Biden came into Super Tuesday hot off a win in the South Carolina primary and with endorsements from several of his former rivals in the race, including Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar and Beto O’Rourke.

With votes still being counted on Wednesday, it looks like Biden will take 10 of the 14 states taking part in the Super Tuesday primary. As of print, Sanders was leading in four states, including California, which accounts for a massive number of delegates.
