A West Windsor Avenue resident caught a burglar in the act last week after he kicked in a rear door while trying to enter her home.
    
The unidentified woman heard the sound of the would-be burglars foot on the door of her 200 block home about 4:54 p.m., January 13. She investigated and came face to face with the suspect, who then fled, police said. 
    
Authorities did not release a description of the suspect, but said the sudden appearance of the victim likely scared him off. His ill-fated attempt at entry damaged the doorframe during the uncommon daylight burglary, police said. 
    
Police recommend homeowners install perimeter lighting, reinforce skylights, vent openings or any other roof openings with metal bars or heavy screens and make sure side and rear windows are locked at all times.
