Virginias annual energy and water efficiency tax holiday begins tomorrow and runs through Monday, October 12. Over the span of four days, non-commercial consumers can avoid paying the 5-percent state and local retail taxes on Energy Star and WaterSense products under $2,500.
Residents can utilize the holiday by purchasing environmentally friendly items like dishwashers, clothes washers, refrigerators, air conditioners, ceiling fans, fluorescent light bulbs and water-related accessories like faucets and toilets.
The program targets not only a cleaner environment, but also a relief for consumers and a boost for businesses in the city and the state.
